We kept going at the bass fishing throughout the summer, but didn't get
blessed with a worthy catch - until our very last visit in early September.
At 58cms it was my biggest bass ever, even on a dry fly. It made me a big

Largemouth bass are considered pest due to their aggressive nature, but
even they have difficulty breaking in the mating party of Koi carps. We
couldn't spot any feeding bass for the otherwise perfect bass fishing day.
May 12
The first outing of the year for Largemouth Bass, aka. Blackbass.
As is often the case this time of the year, the shallow weed beds were
fully occupied by the courting & spawning Koi carps.
Apart from rainbows by far the most numerous, you can expect occasional
brownies, Iwana char, silver salmon and even elusive Taimen. A fishing
version of one stop convenience store.
April 21
Visited Takamiya reservoir in the north of Hiroshima - one of the many
fishing ponds where you pay to fish for the stocked trout. Not the most
aspirational venue but a fun playground where non stop action guaranteed.
The cloudy sky and warm temperature invited the fish to the surface. We
had enjoyed great dry fly actions whole day. Not the quality that you find
here but quantity does make it up.
