The hot noodle was a god send.
Day3
Anatoly joined us for a change - casting lures on the opposite bank for
a few hours. This shack by the way is the fishery's ticket office.
Undeterred by the rain and the cold, I kept covering known likely spots
and prospecting some new. The big fish that took my fly in the end was
a trophy I earned and deserved.

A big change in the weather - the sun and the warmth of the day before
had gone, replaced by cold winds blowing from the north. Around noon it
started raining. Now it's getting more like it!
The sign of salmon also seemed thinner. I caught only one fish, a modest
60cm in the morning. Salmon bite well in shitty weather they say. Well,
not always if you ask me!
Both caught a good fish each, we were sated, and enjoyed a peaceful toast.
Even the sun was shining generously down on us for a moment.
Eating at Anatomy lodge was always a delight. Probably the best in the
whole Russian federation.
Wild salmon are not widely retailed in recent years, making it a luxury
that only anglers can taste.
We went to work on our afternoon session, and I managed further 2 fish,
70cm and 60cm, to call it yet another successful day.
The riverside is still in an 'early spring attire'. The sprouts half exposed
seems to be hesitating in the chilly wind from the north.
In fishing, you better carry on when biting. Especially so in salmon fishing,
as the happy hour could come to an abrupt end any time.
Resting the home pool for a while, we went up stream looking for other
fishy jaunts. And it was Hama who got lucky this time.
Second day fishing. A solid fish took my fly in the 'home pool' right in front of our base camp
In early June, temperature reached almost 30 degrees in southern part of
Russia. But up here in the Arctic north, we were still in single digit.

Now this is a trophy fish in Varzuga, or in any river for that matter.
Congratulations!
Hama also landed his first fish - in the faster current where, coincidentally,
he caught his first salmon on the previous trip.
