There still are some places where you can try fishing though? For instance,
the squid tank in the famous Hakodate fish market.
The rain went on for two whole days. We were already in Sapporo at the
last stage of our travel to receive a blessing of the blue sky again. Most
rivers around were flooded, so we had to enjoy other options, such as,
visiting Sapporo beer museum.
Moored in the Hakodate port is a retired ferry, Mashu-maru. Till underwater
tunnel was completed in 1988, the boat was the only bridge over the fearsome
Seikan channel.
Today visitors can enjoy walking inside the boat turned into a museum.
Or even stand behind the wheel (pls. point the pic).
The next day in Southern Hokkaido
was drenched in solid rain everywhere.
But when things are so bad, you know it won't go any worse. We decided
to make the best of the day elsewhere.

'09 Hokkaido in summer - 03
Not everything went as planned but that's the norm in fishing holidays.
Before heading back to the heat of mainland Japan, one last toast to Hokkaido
our northern paradise.
- End
Squid sashimi is another of the local specialty.
