Thus ended my 2nd visit to Argentina. It was a successful, enjoyable trip
thanks to the two great guides Peto & Martin, and to the beautiful
quarries that gave me moments to remember. Til we meet again, Adios y Suerte!!

A nice fish to round off my trip.
Sinking line fishing has its own charm also, especially in big deep water
that suggests big fish. For this, 10wt outfit is the necessity, to handle
the heavy line and the bigger, streamer type flies.
Afternoon of my last day, I asked Martin to drop me on a sandy beach which
had become my favourite playground - so he can sit back relax, watching
me enjoy solo fishing to my heart's content!!
Dorado are naughty fish. They take no mercy on our lovingly tied flies.
The most successful pattern however was this - black muddler tied on Mustad
C70S, #1/0. Dorado are often very selective feeder, that do not swallow
unusually big meal in one go. Modest sized flies around 8-10cm worked best,
for average size fish anyway.
My tackle set up:
Orvis T3 8wt, with WF9F/I line
Orvis Trident 10we, with 550grain sinking line
Up in Parana and here in Rio Uruguay, I fished 90% of the time with the
8wt outfit. The clear intermediate tip helped not just to gain that crucial
few inches of depth, but to cast bulky flies at relative ease.
Day 2. The last fishing day of my trip.
Martin primarily guides lure anglers and his boat does not have an electric
motor - something you really need for a good flyfishing. But he is knowledgeable
in his field and willing to accommodate flyfisher's request, so long as
you make clear instructions.
