December

Spawning run of Conoshiro shad in the river getting thinner day by day, our focus moved down to the very mouth of the river.
You have to pump in decent hours of taciturn effort,
but the reward is all the more so very sweet.

End Sept

Bait fish approach the shore of Iwakuni.
So does the predators and the fishermen.
Nailing them down on a big bait, in a clear water of autumn river is a sheer pleasure I can never have enough of.
Mid Oct

Start of the lunker hunting season.
Rivers in downtown Hiroshima receive an annual influx of big hungry seabass chasing Conoshiro, a shad-like fish on their spawning run.
November

Lunker hunting in downtown Hiroshima at its best.
A 90cm trophy seabass fought like a demon!!
Late Nov.

Finally a solid rain raised the water level. We hurried to our favourite battlefield to nail down the Ayu eating predators.
These seabass are eager to take big flies resembling spawned out Ayu adrift. A rare opportunity for flyfishers to score jackpots if not beating the lure anglers.

Another special treat of autumn is Ayu eating stream seabass. Unlike early season fish, they are not interested in small meals - they only hammer a whopper!!
To admire the blue sky for a change.
Sayuri joined my night shift occasionally,
nailing down an equally impressive beast of 89cm.
Timing is the key in nailing down Ayu eating Seabass.
Sayuri scored a big success with a big white deceiver.

Sept.

Early autumn blue sky makes a perfect setting for a sight fishing bream game.
This is the average size of Ohta river in Autumn stage - yes, we are badly spoilt!!
